It’s December! After having 14+ inches of snow dropped on us overnight, Sunriver has turned into a snow-lovers’ playground and left many of us excited to see what winter brings us; more snow perhaps? With the recent snowfall, Mt Bachelor was able to open up in time for the holiday! Even if you’re not an avid skier or snowboarder, Bachelor has something for everyone- choose the huge thrill by grabbing a tube and hitting the SnowBlast Tubing Park or enjoy a more peaceful ambiance inside the lodge with some delicious hot cocoa.

If you want a bit of different experience, head out to one of the many sno-parks (Wanoga or Edison are my favorite) for an awesome sledding or snow-shoeing experience. And if you want to stay more localized to your home at StoneRidge Townhomes, there are over 35 miles of bike paths within Sunriver, many of which are left untouched to become a snowshoeing dreamland.

Central Oregon, Sunriver especially, is a great place to spend the holiday season. Everything is sparkling with Christmas spirit in the crisp, cold air. There are so many fun activities held in the Village this month- you can visit Santa’s workshop and craft your own ornaments or mug, stop by the Bear Factory to stuff your own adorable holiday-themed stuffed animal, or even decorate some delicious gingerbread cookies. While you are in the Village, it’s worth noting that the ice skating rink in the Village just opened up for the season as well, so lace up those blades and enjoy the holiday happiness.

A short drive away in Bend, the season is in full swing. Dec 11th is the Annual Christmas Lights Kayak event- a fun spin on the traditional Christmas parade where kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards will be fully decorated and floating down the Deschutes along the Old Mill District. As we near Christmas, Old Mill will also have complimentary carriage rides, numerous holiday carolers, and a full on SantaLand (featuring celebrity Santa!). It is sure to get you amped up for a joyous holiday season.

With all of the festive activities and snowy weather, December is a great month to come enjoy the holiday season at your StoneRidge Townhome (plus, the hot tub is year round!). If you have any questions about any of the events in this post, you can contact us by phone or e-mail, or better yet come down to the lobby & chat with us during your stay! Happy Holidays!
